Godly Acres Reading

A reading of the play that inspired the Godly Acres web series took place at The Brew Cellar in North Charleston, SC, as part of the Itinerant Literate's Independent Bookstore Day celebration. You can check it out here (try to ignore the noisy generator at the beginning...it gets less noticeable after the first 40 seconds or so) if you'd like to see Zeus, Cronus, Dionysus, Ares, and Hermes in group therapy. : )

Cronus: A Preview

We're going to share some fun stuff on this blog, so let's start out with a preview...this is from the episode where Cronus seeks help for his eating disorder. : )

WILLOW

What is that? It smells awful.

CRONUS
Minotaur and jelly. I’d offer you a bite, but I don’t share food.

WILLOW
Lucky me.

CRONUS
Minotaur is delicious…it tastes like Hydra.

WILLOW
I’ve never tried Hydra
.
CRONUS
You must have a very sheltered life.

WILLOW
No, humans just don’t eat Minotaur and Hydra. We didn’t know they really existed.

CRONUS
Oh, they exist…but they’re endangered because they’re so delicious.

WILLOW
Maybe you should stop eating them. Why don’t you try something more traditional, like veal?

CRONUS
What kind of monster would eat a baby cow?

WILLOW
Baby cows are off-limits, but you have no problem eating baby humans?

CRONUS
Baby gods and goddesses.

WILLOW
My mistake.

CRONUS
Cows aren’t a threat to me. Besides, that cow could grow up to be one of my son’s girlfriends.

WILLOW
I got the impression that you didn’t like Zeus.

CRONUS
Oh, yeah. Maybe I should start eating veal just so Zeus can’t get it pregnant.
